HP Warranty Check

You check your HP warranty on HP’s own page: type the serial number and it shows when cover ends. Here is where to find the serial number, what the standard warranty and paid extensions cover, and what to do when it isn’t found.

How do I check my HP warranty?

  1. Find the serial on the label or the box, or press fn + esc on the built-in keyboard.
  2. Open HP’s check page, choose one product or several, pick the country where you bought it, type the serial and submit.

Where is the serial number?

On a label on the laptop, and on the box. On the laptop: press fn + esc on the built-in keyboard for the System Information window.

Can I extend the HP warranty?

  • HP Care Pack. Buy it with the laptop or within 90 days of buying the laptop. Cover counts from the start of the hardware warranty. Post-warranty Care Packs can be bought from 90 days before the warranty ends to 12 months after.

What if the serial number isn't found, or the date looks wrong?

Status wrong? On the result page choose “Dispute this” and upload proof of purchase (up to 2 MB). Business (commercial) models can’t be disputed online, so phone HP Support instead.

Can I check several at once?

The check page has a “multiple products” tab: add a row per serial and check them together.

How long is the warranty on HP laptops?

One year for most laptops, and up to three on some business models.

Other makers

Apple warranty check, Dell warranty check, Lenovo warranty check, Surface warranty check, ASUS warranty check. They're all on the warranty check page.

Keep the HP warranty date with the device

Forward the receipt to AssetJay and it files the purchase date with the asset, plus the serial if the receipt lists one. If the receipt doesn't give a warranty length it assumes one year, and it emails you 30, 7 and 1 day before the warranty ends. Each asset page links to its maker's check, with a button to copy the serial.
