Dell Warranty Check
You check your Dell warranty on Dell’s own page: type the Service Tag and it shows when cover ends. Here is where to find the Service Tag, what the standard warranty and paid extensions cover, and what to do when it isn’t found.
How do I check my Dell warranty?
- Find the Service Tag: seven characters on the bottom of the laptop, or on the SupportAssist app’s main screen.
- Open Dell’s Support Services page and type the Service Tag, or choose Detect This PC on the laptop itself.
- The same page lets you register a Dell bought from a shop, transfer ownership of a used one, and extend cover.
Where is the Service Tag?
Dell calls it the Service Tag. It’s etched or on a sticker on the bottom of a laptop. On the laptop: the SupportAssist app shows it on its main screen.
Can I extend the Dell warranty?
- ProSupport. Phone support around the clock, next-business-day repair on site, and monitoring that warns of problems.
- ProSupport Plus. Adds accidental damage cover, Keep Your Hard Drive (you keep a failed drive and the data on it) and a Technical Customer Success Manager.
What if the Service Tag isn't found, or the date looks wrong?
Service Tag not found? Leave out “ST” and any spaces, and check for typos. A new laptop can take 24 to 48 hours to show up.
Can I check several at once?

Keep the Dell warranty date with the device
Forward the receipt to AssetJay and it files the purchase date with the asset, plus the serial if the receipt lists one. If the receipt doesn't give a warranty length it assumes one year, and it emails you 30, 7 and 1 day before the warranty ends. Each asset page links to its maker's check, with a button to copy the serial.
