The IT asset management tools that officially connect to Claude or ChatGPT in October 2026 are AssetJay, for small teams without an IT department, BlueTally on its $299-a-month Business plan, and enterprise IT platforms such as ServiceNow, Freshservice, Lansweeper and ManageEngine. None of the other small-team asset trackers we checked (Snipe-IT, Asset Panda, Sortly, Shelf, Reftab, EZOfficeInventory, AssetTiger or itemit) has its own official connection yet.
AssetJay is our product, so we're not a neutral source here. Below is what a connection lets you do, which tools have one, which are coming, and what to check before you connect anything. Everything was checked against each vendor's own documentation on 29 October 2026.
What does it mean for an asset tool to work with Claude or ChatGPT?
An asset tool works with Claude or ChatGPT when it offers an MCP server, the open standard that lets an AI assistant read and change data in another app after you sign in. Once connected, you can ask "who has the spare monitor?" or "add this receipt" in the chat, and the assistant looks it up or makes the change in the asset tool for you.
Claude adds these as connectors, either from its directory or by pasting the server's address (Anthropic). ChatGPT supports them through apps and developer mode (OpenAI). The MCP specification is public, so the same server works with both.
Which asset management tools have an official Claude or ChatGPT connection?
Six tools have a connection published by the vendor itself, and only AssetJay's works on a free plan.
| Tool | Built for | Connection | In Claude's directory |
|---|---|---|---|
| AssetJay | Small teams without IT | Remote MCP server, reads and writes, works on the free plan | Yes |
| BlueTally | IT teams, with Intune and Jamf sync | "AI assistant integration (MCP)" on the Business plan, $299 a month: "ask Copilot or ChatGPT about your assets" | Not confirmed |
| ServiceNow | Enterprise IT | MCP Server Console, tools set up by your admin | Yes |
| Freshservice | IT service desks | Remote MCP server, tickets, assets and onboarding; limits depend on plan | Yes |
| Lansweeper | IT teams scanning networks | Remote MCP server, beta, Pro and Enterprise plans | Not confirmed |

What can AssetJay do in Claude and ChatGPT?
AssetJay connects to Claude from its listing in the connectors directory, and to ChatGPT by adding https://www.assetjay.com/api/mcp as an app in developer mode. You sign in once and approve access, and Claude or ChatGPT can then work with your asset list.
In practice that means asking what needs attention this week, adding a laptop from a photo or a forwarded receipt, finding who has a given monitor, assigning equipment to a new starter, recording a return, and listing what someone leaving still has. It works on the free plan, which covers 25 assets, and Pro is $24.99 a month for up to 250. Our guide to managing equipment with Claude walks through it, and there's a recipe for having Claude add your Gmail receipts every morning.
Which asset tools are adding Claude or ChatGPT support?
Snipe-IT and NinjaOne are the two most likely to have an official connection soon. Snipe-IT's maintainer has an open pull request adding an MCP server inside the app, not yet merged on 29 October 2026 (GitHub), and NinjaOne announced an MCP server alongside its Katana AI on 13 October 2026 (NinjaOne).
Microsoft Intune has no MCP server of its own: Microsoft's MCP server for enterprise covers Entra in a read-only preview (Microsoft Learn), and the Microsoft 365 connector in Claude covers SharePoint, Outlook and Teams (Claude).
What about the tools without an official connection?
Asset Panda, Sortly, Shelf, Reftab, EZOfficeInventory, AssetTiger and itemit had no MCP server of their own on 29 October 2026. Several can still be reached through hosted middlemen such as Zapier, which offers MCP access to Asset Panda and Reftab (Zapier), and a few have community-built servers on GitHub, such as one for itemit.
These work, but your data passes through a third party, and they usually offer fewer actions with no support from the vendor. For a small team that just wants to ask about its equipment, a connection made by the tool itself is simpler and easier to trust.
What should you check before connecting an asset tool to an AI assistant?
Check who made the connection, what it's allowed to change, and who can approve it. A vendor-published server signs you in with your own account and only sees what that account can see; a community server usually needs an API key you paste in, which gives it everything that key allows.
Some actions change your data rather than just reading it. In AssetJay, only the account owner can connect an assistant, and changes such as returns or new assets show up in the asset's activity history like any other edit. If you haven't picked a tool yet, our comparison of equipment tracking software for small teams covers the rest of the field.
